At first, the topic of space colonization seems like something that storytellers have explored, but Empty reckons with the consequences of time & space in a way that is unique. The characters repeat numbers like "30,000 years" as though that amount of time is normal, or even conceivable. It's jarring in the best way. Humanity has only been around for ~10,000 years, and Empty forces us to reckon with a universe that extends far beyond our species' history. ”
